Building the Story Every story starts with a single
element a thought, an image, a frame of video, a sound and
expands in complexity into something layered and complete. Along the way,
individual pieces stand on their own as shorts, reels, a useable image library,
and social posts but the finished video is always the goal.
That process happens in the open, on the
grounds of a former Cistercian Abbey, alongside St. Declan's Way, near the town
of Cappoquin in County Waterford. The media lab operates as a working newsroom
and production studio, where reporting, photography, video, and audio are
treated as parts of one craft rather than separate disciplines.
The work produced here is real published
coverage of the Abbey, distributed with the objectives of a functioning
newsroom: through a regularly updated site, a recurring email newsletter, and
video built for the audiences already watching.

The Building
Blocks PHOTOGRAPHY: Team photo
shoots, composition and style brainstorming, editing, digital storage
requirements and options, Photoshop, appropriate AI-assisted editing tools
the full pipeline from camera to finished piece .
CREATIVE CONTENT: Developing
story ideas, researching sources (history,
interviews) and writing narratives built to work across websites, newsletters
and video. The byproduct will be shorts and reels for multiple platforms that
will entertain and inform.
VIDEO
POST-PRODUCTION: Editing across
multiple video and audio tracks. Exploring the uses of the iPhone as a second
shooter and dedicated B-roll source. We will aim for full YouTube video, but
not hesitate to re-cut for other features or shorts.
HISTORICAL DOCUMENTATION:
Building an extensive multi-dimensional database
of the Abbey a centuries-old historical site now mid-redevelopment:
capturing both what's existed for generations and what's changing in real
time.
